March 5, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Belarusian army has summoned about 5,000 reservists for the ongoing drill, General Staff Chief Pavie\u0142 Muraviejka said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise, one of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s many maneuvers amid his support of Russia’s war against Ukraine and worsening relations with the West, started on February 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defense ministry quoted Muraviejka as saying that the drill involved modern methods of conducting military operations with drones and electronic warfare equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise’s main tasks have been completed “in full,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are actively using counter-battery techniques, raid operations, assault group operations, defense of populated areas, and operations in wooded and marshy areas,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Muraviejka, NATO and the US have stationed 17 battalion tactical groups in Poland and the Baltic states. “Our territory is under permanent reconnaissance, and its intensity has increased by about five times compared to 2020,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that this did not make Minsk more optimistic but forced it to make “certain decisions” on developing and improving security, including advancing drones and buying new weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
