March 4, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has signed the law “On Ratifying Treaty Between Republic of Belarus and Russian Federation on Security Guarantees in Union State,” his press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Mutual guarantees for implementing necessary measures in the event of attacks on the security of Belarus, Russia or the Union State as a whole” are enshrined in the document, it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russian President Vladimir Putin ratified it on February 28, after it was rushed through the houses of the Russian Federal Assembly and the Belarusian National Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under Article 9, the treaty takes effect on the day the parties exchange the ratification instruments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka and Putin concluded the security deal at the Union State\u2019s Supreme Council in Minsk on December 6, 2024. Then, the Russian president said the document defines the allies\u2019 commitment to defend their independence and constitutional order. He added that it also concerns protecting the Union State\u2019s territorial integrity \u201cusing all available forces and means.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among other things, the deal allows Russia to set up military facilities in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
