March 3, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has told Information Minister Marat Marka\u016d, reappointed today after the cabinet’s formal resignation on February 3, to push on and win the information war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk\u2019s information war includes a crackdown on critical voices and any interpretations that do not align with the official line and propaganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government has branded most of the country\u2019s private media outlets as extremist groups after the disputed 2020 presidential election and imprisoned dozens of journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka essentially told the reappointed officials to continue unmask and eradicate all \u201cenemies of the state who have been lying low for a while,\u201d the state-run media reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat kind of forgiveness can be there if a person breaks the law and does it deliberately?\u201d he said. \u201cI say this in this circle because how can you forgive public figures? [They all were] public figures [representing] health care, education, media, culture and sports. Everyone is public. The whole nation saw that [they] violated the law and order and opposed the state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artists must show unwavering support for the current government, \u0141uka\u0161enka told Culture Minister Rus\u0142an \u010carniecki. \u201cIf you are facing some dissent there . . . you must stop it. You are a statesman and they must be the same as you are.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ruler also reminded Health Minister Alaksandar Chad\u017eaje\u016d of \u201ca great deal of complains\u201d that he faces. \u201cBut you know why these complaints are coming in,\u201d he said, alluding to rival clans. He suggested that newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister U\u0142adzimir Karanik, a former health minister, should help Chad\u017eaje\u016d “sort things out” in healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut neither he nor me will help you if you cannot protect yourself and your direct subordinates,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
