February 28, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law ratifying the Belarusian-Russian deal on security guarantees in the Union State, TASS <\/em>reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The houses of the Russian Federal Assembly approved it on February 18 and 26, and it was rushed through the Belarusian National Assembly two days ago. Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has not signed the agreement so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under Article 9, the treaty takes effect on the day the parties exchange the ratification instruments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka and Putin concluded the security deal at the Union State\u2019s Supreme Council in Minsk on December 6, 2024. Then, the Russian president said the document defines the allies\u2019 commitment to defend their independence and constitutional order. He added that it also concerns protecting the Union State\u2019s territorial integrity \u201cusing all available forces and means.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among other things, the deal allows Russia to set up military facilities in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
