February 28, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> A flying object, presumably a drone, has crashed and exploded on a farm building in the Homiel region, causing a fire, Flagshtok<\/em> reports, citing the owner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident took place near the Ziabra\u016dka village a few kilometers north of a military air base used by Russians during the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents of Homiel’s southern suburbs heard gunfire and an explosion shortly after midnight, the report said. The emergency ministry did not record any incidents in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most recent Russian drone incursion in Belarus dates back to February 23, yet air defense systems may not detect drones flying at low altitudes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last September, Belarusian air defenses downed several drones over Homiel. Later, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka admitted drone incursions and claimed that Belarusian air defenses shoot down UAVs regardless of their Russian or Ukrainian origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ruler attributed the incursions to insufficient expertise of drone operators. Electronic warfare systems set the UAVs off course, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
