February 24, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d has called for a \u201cglobal reset in the field of human rights to minimize the conflict potential of human rights issues\u201d at a UN Human Rights Council session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA million human rights labels have been pinned\u201d to Belarus, he said, dismissing these accusations as absurd. At the same time, he pointed to a crisis of democracy in Europe, which, according to the minister, violates all basic human values so that even the White House sees this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He accused Poland, Lithuania and Latvia of restricting cross-border movement with Belarus and Russia. \u201cWe know what they are afraid of\u2014the truth. The truth that their citizens will bring back from their trips to our countries,\u201d Ry\u017eanko\u016d said in a reference to cheaper Belarusian goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 19, the UN Human Rights Council will hold an interacive dialogue on human rights in Belarus, based on the first report of the Group of Experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report says that some rights violations \u201camount to international crimes in that they were committed intentionally as part of a widespread and systematic attack against a segment of the civilian population of Belarus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
