February 24, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The European Union added the Minsk-based Intehra\u0142 chip factory in its 16th sanctions package on the third anniversary of Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The document was adopted as a response to steps \u201cundermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine,\u201d the Official Journal of the European Union reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said that Intehra\u0142 supplies chips to Russian entities participating in the war against Ukraine and the company\u2019s products \u201chave been found in the battlefield.\u201d \u201cSuch purchase orders are large and account for the vast majority of the company\u2019s exports,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSemiconductors are vital to Russia\u2019s war effort and Russia has already invested USD 350 million in JSC Integral,\u201d it concluded. \u201cTherefore, JSC Integral supports actions which undermine and threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine and supports and benefits from the Government of the Russian Federation, which is responsible for the annexation of Crimea and the destabilization of Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US Department of Treasury sanctioned Intehra\u0142 for backing the war in February 2022, the United Kingdom in March of the same year and Japan a little later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky approved sanctions lists of about 4,000 individuals and legal entities from Belarus and Russia, including Intehra\u0142.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visiting Intehra\u0142 on February 14, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka emphasized that electronics plays a critical role for the future of Belarus and Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January, the BelPol association of former security officers published an investigation identifying Intehra\u0142 as one of the companies involved in the mass production of ammunition for the Russian army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian Investigative Center also reported at the end of January that Intehra\u0142 is bypassing sanctions and assisting Russia\u2019s military.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
