February 24, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>The Belarusian delegation headed by Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d is expected to participate in \u201chigh-level segments\u201d of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) and the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva on February 24-26, the foreign ministry’s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diplomat will argue that sanctions imposed on Minsk by the European Union, United States and other countries are illegal, the ministry said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d’s agenda features several other high-level events, including a ministerial meeting of member states of the Group of Friends for the Defense of the UN Charter and talks with Geneva-based UN agencies, it noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HRC is scheduled to host an interactive dialogue on Belarus on March 19. It will be based on the first report by independent experts who were tasked with investigating the circumstances and root causes of all rights abuses allegedly committed in Belarus since May 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report says that some rights violations in Belarus \u201camount to international crimes in that they were committed intentionally as part of a widespread and systematic attack against a segment of the civilian population of Belarus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HRC established the Group of Independent Experts on the Situation of Human Rights in Belarus last April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
