February 3, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The Central Election Commission has officially declared that 86.82 percent of Belarusians voted for Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka in Belarus\u2019 seventh presidential election on January 21-26. which drew criticism from democratic countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka extended his 30-year rule in Belarus for the next five years, with other presidential bidders lagging far behind: Communist leader Siarhiej Syranko\u016d was awarded 3.21 percent; Aleh Hajdukievi\u010d and Alaksandar Chi\u017eniak, in charge of two pro-government parties, 2.02 and 1.74 percent, respectively; former MP Hanna Kanapackaja, 1.86 percent. The CEC also said 3.6 percent voted against all candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final results are the same as the preliminary data presented by CEC head Ihar Karpienka on January 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus has not held a single free and fair election since 1996 by the standards of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand and the United Kingdom denounced the election as a sham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
