January 24, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Belarusian state television network ONT<\/em> has hailed the removal of former State Secretary Antony Blinken’s statement on Belarus from the US Department of State web page as a sign of change in the US government\u2019s position under President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ONT<\/em> reported<\/a> that the website has apologized for the inconvenience after deleting the condemnation of the country’s presidential vote as a sham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it ignored the explanation on the page: “We create an archive of the State.gov website at the end of each presidential administration. This has been a standard practice since the end of the Clinton Administration in 2001. If the content you\u2019re looking for is from a prior administration, you can search our archive sites.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ONT<\/em> described Blinken’s statement “interference in the upcoming presidential election in Belarus.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This impudence has not been tolerated even by the Donald Trump administration. Now, when users try to go to the US Department of State page that contained Blinken’s ‘particularly valuable opinion’ on the election in Belarus, they are greeted by the shy ‘We apologize for the inconvenience\u2019 instead of a pompous headline and the secretary of state’s condemnatory remarks,” it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blinken’s statement on Belarus, as well as other documents from January 2021 to January 2025, are available on the archive site. The document can be found at https:\/\/2021-2025.state.gov\/denouncing-sham-elections-and-continued-repression-in-belarus<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
