January 17, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The District Court of Warsaw has sentenced Dorian S\u0142awczyk to life in prison for raping and murdering Belarusian Lizavieta Hiercen in late February 2024, Belsat <\/em>reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few days ago, prosecutors demanded a life sentence for the 23-year-old as well as compensation of 200,000 zlotys (about $48,000) for each victim, such as her boyfriend and family in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hiercen, who was raped and nearly strangled, died in a hospital a few days after the attack, which sparked outrage on social media. Many pointed out that no one came to help the woman in the busy district during the incident. Thousands took to the streets after her death to commemorate the victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusians buried Hiercen at the Northern Communal Cemetery in the Polish capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
