January 3, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Belarusian wood industry recovered from sanctions in 2024, said U\u0142adzimir Kre\u010d, deputy forestry minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In certain areas, we have significantly increased our volumes, quality and financial indicators, bringing them to the pre-sanctions level,” he told state media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Today, we have a stable economy and a good net profit. The forestry ministry system has revenues at the H1 2021 level, and it was one of the most successful years in our work,” the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 2, 2022, the European Union imposed a sanctions package on Minsk, including a ban on the export of wood products, such as briquettes, fuel pellets and plywood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, Forestry Minister Alaksandar Kulik announced record lumber exports (1 million cubic meters) for 2024. Earlier, he noted that the production of pellets “operates at minimum capacity” after sanctions. According to him, Belarusian wood products are exported to China and other Asian markets, and the sector has recovered and even surpassed pre-sanction export volumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
