December 13, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>The national budget for 2025 has been approved by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s edict, his press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials based the budget on Belarus’ socio-economic development plans taking into account the current economic situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The social focus of the expenditures will be maintained. A significant portion will be spent on wages, pensions, stipends, benefits and the implementation of state social standards.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Council of the Republic passed the budget yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It projected revenues of 45.84 billion rubels (a year on year increase of 8.1 percent) and expenditures of 50.3 billion rubels (up 12 percent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deficit is 4.46 billion (some $1.36 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Finance Minister Juryj Sieliviersta\u016d said there were plans to cover about 1 billion rubels in deficit with external funding. “Part of these funds will be attracted from the Russian Federation in the form of a loan,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The projected budget deficit is not worth \u201ca serious conversation,\u201d said Anatol Charyton\u010dyk, a senior researcher at the BEROC think tank, describing the revenue estimate as very conservative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Raman Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka stated that the government always based the budget “on conservative, pessimistic forecasts in order to have room for maneuver.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
