December 13, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Biathlete Darja Dalidovi\u010d has made her debut at the Junior Cup as a “refugee from Belarus,” the Russian website Sport-Express<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian competed in the individual women’s race in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna (Italy) “without a flag, marked as Belarus Refugee Team.” She took the 53rd place out of 115 possible, the website said. According to the report, “this is not bad for a debut.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, Darja faced discrimination in her homeland as the daughter of Siarhiej Dalidovi\u010d, an Olympic skier. The athlete supported protesters in 2020 and was forced to emigrate. In May 2022, he signed the Belarusian Sports Solidarity Foundation’s anti-war declaration. He lives in Zakopane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January 2022, the foundation reached out to the international ski federation regarding the ban on the performances of \u015aviat\u0142ana Andryjuk and Darja Dalidovi\u010d, which it said was politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ski federation banned the athletes from going to international competitions for a year, even at their own expense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andryjuk and Dalidovi\u010d twice tried to appealed the ban at the National Olympic Committee, but the sports officials ignored their requests, the foundation said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eventually, Dalidovi\u010d moved to Poland with her father and entered regional Polish biathlon competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian athletes rarely compete in international winter sports tournaments. In September, the suspension of Belarusian and Russian athletes was extended by the main international federations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
