December 13, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin made a series of fictional anti-western claims in his yesterday’s address in Minsk at a conference, marking the anniversary of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus \u201cfaces manifestations of Nazism and fascism” used by “revanchists” as a symbol of \u201cformer national power and greatness,\u201d the Prosecutor General\u2019s Office quoted him as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He official accused Belarus’ western neighbors and Ukraine of spearheading the “reckless policy,” citing the alleged glorification of Nazi criminals and destruction of Soviet memorials. Chrenin also claimed these countries\u2019 national minorities of suffering in the face of totalitarian practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cplague of Nazism\u201d arrived at Belarus’ borders and \u201cspread like a malignant tumor in many Western countries,” he charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe West has done everything possible to forget the lessons of history, to forget the perpetrators of crimes against humanity – those responsible for the genocide against USSR peoples, including the Belarusian people,\u201d Chrenin said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fascist ideas are now used for a \u201cnew partition of the world and seizure of territories and resources,\u201d he added, without specifying the culprits, yet accusing Ukraine of promoting fascist ideas and violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyiv is discriminating against non-Ukrainians and is set to construct a monoethnic nation just like Nazi Germany did, he went on to claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The general also denounced NATO’s military build-up in Eastern Europe as a proof of western \u201caggressive imperialism,” which in his opinion \u201cprovokes armed conflicts,\u201d including the ones in Ukraine and the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official urged the global community to resist the “irresponsible policy of the West’s ruling elites, who are fomenting confrontation and pushing the planet\u201d toward another world war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk has consistently repeated the Kremlin\u2019s propaganda narratives about \u201cUkrainian Nazism\u201d and fascism in the West after Russia launched the full-scale war on Ukraine in February 2022, in which Belarusian authorities support Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
