November 3, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Some 10,000 recent retirees may return to the labor market after the removal of restrictions on retirement-age workers’ pensions, Natalla Pa\u016dlu\u010denka in charge of labor and social protection ministry has told Belarus 1<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka signed an edict making working pensioners eligible for full pensions from January 1, 2025. The move will benefit about 110,000 out of 446,000 seniors whose pensions are subject to caps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, full pensions are paid only to retirement-age farmers, as well as those whose monthly salary does not exceed the average monthly wage multiplied by a factor of 1.3. Those whose salaries are higher are paid part of the full pension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pa\u016dlu\u010denka also announced a 14-percent increase in pensions to 926 rubels (about $280) next year. Belarusian authorities earmarked almost 26 billion rubels ($7.8 billion) for pension payments in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus is facing labor shortage due to an outflow of skilled workers amid politically-motivated reprisals that have been going on for four years. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
