October 26, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Ukraine’s enemies can deploy troops to its border during the Zapad strategic exercise in Belarus in 2025, Ukrainian border guard spokesman Andriy Demchenko said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Of course, we cannot rule out some movements toward our border during the exercise. However, taking into account previous exercises, the core can be at Belarusian training grounds and possibly in some other sectors,” Demchenko said on Ukrainian television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He recalled that Ukraine has been fortifying its border with Belarus for some time now. “The situation allows us to do this, unlike, for example, the situation at the border with Russia, where the enemy is constantly shelling the Ukrainian border area,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ukrainian-Belarusian border is relatively quiet at the moment, but this sector still poses a threat to Ukraine, he said. This will be the case as long as Belarus “is under the influence of the terrorist country Russia.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Russian-Belarusian exercise Zapad 2025 will be the next year’s “main event,” the Belarusian defense minister said earlier this week. It will contribute to the development of the Union State’s defense system, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Belarus and Russia held the Allied Resolve exercise in Belarus. Despite assurances by then-Foreign Minister U\u0142adzimir Makiej that all Russian troops would leave Belarusian territory after the maneuvers, this did not happen. On February 24, Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine, including with forces stationed in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
