October 25, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Belarusian law enforcers and internal troops will start an active phase of drills as early as November to prepare for the upcoming presidential election, Belarusian Interior Minister Ivan Kubrako\u016d has told the ministry’s board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Law enforcers will have training in ideology, monitoring public security in towns, combat tactics, freeing hostages and preventing the seizure of government offices by crowds, the ministry’s press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian government usually places law enforcers on high alert in the run-up to elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A public security monitoring system featuring 30,000 CCTV cameras was launched before the parliamentary election earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus will hold its seventh presidential election from January 21 to 26, with just three months allocated for the whole election cycle. The previous 2020 presidential race was marred by police brutality against peaceful protesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The country has not held a single free and fair election since 1996 by the standards of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
