October 14, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Three managers of the Belarusian Railway (BR) transportation service were arrested on corruption charges on October 11 and 12, an unofficial community of railway workers said on Telegram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BR head of transportation Vital Paniu\u0161enka, his deputy Fiodar \u0160ulanko\u016d, who managed the transportation control center, and Alaksandar Ivano\u016d, the center’s assistant manager and department head, were taken into custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August, the Council of Ministers dismissed Siarhiej Sizin as BR deputy head citing a breach of anti-corruption regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 13, the interior ministry reported that police cracked down on a corruption ring organized and coordinated by an unnamed BR executive. Officers reportedly found $3 million in cash at the suspect\u2019s house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier that month, the community of railway workers reported the arrest of Piatro Du\u0142ub, the BR\u2019s first deputy head. In late July, media reported the arrests of Sizin and Siarhiej Navadvorski, the BR\u2019s chief engineer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 14, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka confirmed that Du\u0142ub was being investigated for corruption. One month later, the Belarusian leader appointed Valeryj Viareni\u010d, ex-deputy transport minister, as head of the BR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reasons for dismissal of the previous BR CEO, U\u0142adzimir Maroza\u016d, were not disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
