More than 500,000 Belarusian children spent vacations there under recuperation programs, according to the Italian embassy in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the Belarusian government included Italy in the list of &#8220;unfriendly countries,&#8221; while Italy does not recognize the official results of the 2020 presidential election and, as a European Union member, supports sanctions on Minsk over its support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bialevi\u010d told reporters in the Belarusian capital that almost 90 percent of orphans and children without parental care are receiving family-based care. The number of boarding schools for orphans has decreased by 20 percent over the past three years, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to her, the national database of orphans lists about 5,000 children available for adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About 300\u2013400 children are adopted annually, the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The number of people wishing to adopt a child has grown almost fourfold over the past 20 years.
