October 8, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Kyiv \u201cis not afraid of the regime in Belarus and its armed forces,” opposition defense chief Vadzim Kaban\u010duk has told Pozirk<\/em>, commenting on the recent suggestion by Ukrainian MP Oleh Dunda to expand Ukraine\u2019s military operations to Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese are the consequences of [Alaksandar] \u0141uka\u0161enka’s opportunistic policy, who together with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin entered the war against Ukraine,\u201d said the former deputy commander of the Ukraine-based Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski Regiment formed of Belarusian volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian army would not protect \u0141uka\u0161enka because soldiers and officers do not want to \u201cfight for the dictator” or against Ukraine, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The longer \u0141uka\u0161enka stays in power, the higher the risk of war on the territory of Belarus, Kaban\u010duk stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine has every right for preventive strikes if it sees a threat from Belarus, such as joint Belarusian-Russian maneuvers scheduled for 2025, the politician added, noting that Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 after a similar exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
