September 26, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Minsk has lashed out at Vilnius over its decision to pull out of a customs accord with Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vilnius’ \u201cofficial refusal to honor its commitments\u201d is yet another confirmation of its “disdainful attitude to people, including citizens of its country,” the Belarusian State Customs Committee (SCC) said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, the Lithuanian government approved a bill to denounce customs cooperation deals with Belarus and Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTaking into account the continuing unprecedented military aggression by Russia and its accomplice Belarus against Ukraine and flagrant violations of international law, as well as the fact that cross-border trade and economic cooperation with these aggressor states has been completely suspended and impossible in practice, the decision has been made to denounce the agreements,\u201d Finance Minister Gintar\u0117 Skaist\u0117 said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuanian customs have not cooperated with their Belarusian and Russian counterparts and have not exchanged information since the start of Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Lithuanian government\u2019s press office noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus has repeatedly urged them to comply with vehicle admission agreements, offered them to hold meetings and consider reopening the closed checkpoints, the SCC said, but “there was no reaction.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It went on to criticize Lithuanian counterparts for allegedly slow handling of vehicles and “artificially created” queues at the border, where only two checkpoints remain operational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
