September 10, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Hungary’s decision to ease visa requirements for Russian and Belarusian nationals is a source of concern, said Lithuanian presidential aide Asta Skaisgiryt\u0117, \u017dini\u0173 Radijas<\/em> reported, as cited by Delfi<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem is that visa holders can travel across the whole Schengen area, as there are no checkpoints between the Schengen countries, Skaisgiryt\u0117 said. Europe could establish such checkpoints, but this would contradict the free movement concept, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This situation is puzzling for the entire European Union, as there have been few such cases before, she added, calling for a pan-European solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 30, media reported that the Hungarian government had included Belarusians and Russians in the National Card program, which allows people to work in Hungary for up to two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program is open to persons interested in working or doing business in Hungary and offers more benefits than work and business visas, including permanent residence after three years and citizenship after eight years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
