August 27, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has acknowledged Moldova’s “unwavering support for democratic Belarus” in her congratulatory message on Moldovan Independence Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Your achievements are both an inspiration and a great example for us,” she said on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s message stressed that Minsk \u201chas always regarded Chi\u015fin\u0103u as a reliable partner and is ready to resume constructive cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only an equal and respectful dialogue of long-time friends and neighbors would help overcome present-day challenges, his press office reported, citing the message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moldova was granted the European Union membership candidate status in June 2022. Earlier, \u0141uka\u0161enka claimed that the West wants to tear it away from the Commonwealth of Independent States, uniting post-Soviet countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 20, Moldova will hold a presidential election timed to coincide with a referendum on EU membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
