August 11, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Belarusian foreign ministry said on August 10 it handed a note of protest to Olga Timush, Ukraine\u2019s charge d\u2019affaires, in connection with \u201cborder violation\u201d by unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Ukraine.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry warned that it may close the diplomatic mission if it is unable to prevent similar \u201cprovocations\u201d in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka ordered his army to send reinforcements to the Homiel and Mazyr \u201ctactical directions\u201d after Belarusian and Russian air defenses had shot down several UAVs on August 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin told reporters in Minsk on August 10 that Belarusian air defenses shot down UAVs over Belarus and the Russian air defenses shot down UAVs \u201coutside Belarus\u2019 air space.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe assess this as a provocation against the Republic of Belarus,\u201d Chrenin said. \u201cTaking into account the situation in Ukraine and in the Kursk province of Russia, the commander in chief [\u0141uka\u0161enka] gave orders to strengthen the group of forces at the Homiel and Mazyr tactical directions with the purpose of reacting to any possible provocations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chrenin said he had sent Pa\u0142anez multiple-rocket launch systems, Iskander missiles, anti-aircraft and electronic warfare systems and aircraft to the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
