Łukašenka completes talks with Putin

July 28, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has returned to Belarus from Russia, Pul Pervogo, his press office’s unofficial Telegram channel, reports without disclosing any further details about his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Both leaders met in Russia’s Karelia and reportedly communicated in a closed format.
Łukašenka left for Russia on Friday to discuss Belarusian-Russian relations and joint projects, regional security and international politics. Earlier this month, he said he wanted to talk about “further steps on Ukraine” with Putin.
This was Łukašenka’s 20th trip to Russia over the past two years.
After the disputed 2020 presidential election, the Belarusian pro-democracy forces have been sounding alarm over Belarus’ growing integration with Russia. They accuse Łukašenka, who allowed Russian troops to attack Ukraine in 2022 from Belarus and let Moscow deploy Russian tactical nuclear weapons, of trading in Belarus’ sovereignty to maintain power.
