July 22, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has urged officials to “find ways to cooperate” with the European Union along with keeping close ties to “friendly countries,” such as Russia and China, his press office reports.
“If they need to buy something and we need to sell it on their market, it’s a mutually beneficial interest,” it quoted him as saying at a conference with officials on industrial performance.
On July 1, the EU enacted a new package of economic restrictions against Belarus, punishing Łukašenka’s support of the Russian war against Ukraine. New sanctions include an extensive ban on import, export and transit of a wide range of goods.
Reacting to Western sanctions against Belarus since 2020, authorities in Minsk approved a list of “unfriendly states” that includes all EU member countries.
