Belarus’ top diplomat discusses Eurasian security in China

July 9, Pozirk. Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryžankoŭ and Liu Jianchao, in charge of international affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC), have discussed security and conflicts in Eurasia at their meeting in Beijing.
The talks focused on political cooperation and bilateral relations, including interaction in regional and international organizations, the Belarusian foreign ministry reported.
The officials “noted the convergence of approaches on the need to promote a fairer multipolar world order,” it added.
Expanding relations with China is a strategic priority for Belarus despite the “complicated international situation and tense geopolitical situation,” Ryžankoŭ said.
The Chinese official reportedly praised cooperation between the CPC Central Committee and the Belarusian Presidential Administration.
Yesterday in Beijing, Ryžankoŭ had a meeting with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi that lasted more than three hours, the foreign ministry said.
The diplomats reaffirmed mutual support for a fair multipolar world order and the unacceptability of interference in internal affairs, it noted.
Wang Yi reportedly reiterated his support for Belarus’ application for partner status in BRICS, an alliance founded by Brazil, China, India and Russia.
