Łukašenka draws parallels between Nazis and EU, US

July 3, Pozirk. Nazism is the absolute evil, and its crimes cannot be justified or forgiven. This is the main lesson Belarus learned more than 80 years ago, said Alaksandar Łukašenka at the Independence Day parade in Minsk on July 3.
He used the occasion to draw parallels between the Nazis and democracies.
“[Adolf] Hitler’s Germany assumed the role of a teacher then. The entire European Union, led by the United States, is trying to teach us now,” Łukašenka said.
“But we have learned all the lessons from the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. . . . We have only one teacher – our history, the history of the victors.”
Łukašenka described the parade as a show of professionalism and service of the military, border guards and security officers who “do everything to prevent provocations by unfriendly countries from escalating into a full-scale military conflict.”
