Romania bans Russia’s, Belarus’ MPs from OSCE PA session

June 16, Pozirk. Romania has banned Belarus and Russia from participating in an annual session of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 3 in Bucharest.
The ban would apply to MPs and technical staff from both delegations, Romanian Foreign Ministry spokesman Radu Filip told Antena3 TV, citing Romania’s opposition to Russia’s aggressive war on Ukraine as the reason.
In late April, both chambers of the Belarusian National Assembly formed delegations for work with the European parliamentary organizations, including the OSCE PA.
During the winter session of OSCE PA, Belarusian MP Andrej Savinych and Andrej Dapkiunas, Belarusian envoy to Austria and OSCE, left one of the meetings in protest against the participation of opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja.
