Opposition leader to visit Norway next week

April 27, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja will arrive in Oslo with a two-day visit on April 29 to discuss funding for independent media, civil society and rehabilitation of former political prisoners, her aide Franak Viačorka has told Pozirk.
The visit will feature high-level meetings with Norwegian authorities, including Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, Oslo Mayor Anne Lindboe and Norwegian MPs from For Democratic Belarus group.
Cichanoŭskaja is expected to hold talks with the Speaker of the Norwegian Parliament Masoud Garakhani and members of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs and defense.
The politician will also address Words Matter! conference and meet civil society activists, researchers and journalists.
Norway has been consistently supporting Belarusian pro-democracy forces since 2020 and is cooperating with the international platform gathering evidence of crimes by Alaksandar Łukašenka and his officials.
