Belarus to broadcast Euro 2024 without UEFA permission

April 24, Pozirk. Belarus plans to broadcast the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 without obtaining the necessary permissions from UEFA, according to the information ministry’s Directive No 6 published on the National Legal Internet Portal.
In February, the ministry allowed the broadcasts of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup without FIFA’s consent.
The sanctioned government enacted a law in early January 2023 to legalize piracy and “gray” imports of goods from the so-called “unfriendly” countries.
It overrides the copyright law, allowing the information ministry to authorize the use of intellectual property, including software, music, broadcasts, and audiovisual works, without the consent of the copyright holders.
Authorities consider Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union, Switzerland and other countries as unfriendly for imposing sanctions on Minsk over human rights abuses and the country’s complicity in the Russian war on Ukraine.
The UEFA Euro 2024 will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14.
