Russia’s military presence in Belarus limited to service personnel – Ukrainian border guards

March 25, Pozirk. A certain number of Russian servicemen, mostly “service personnel, maintaining equipment” remain in Belarus, Andrii Demchenko, a spokesman for the Ukrainian State Border Guard, told journalists on Sunday.
The situation at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border remains stable and under control, rbc.ua reported, citing him as saying.
Ukrainian border guards did not detect any serious Russian forces in Belarus, the official added, noting that Moscow withdrew all its units that underwent training in Belarus and did not deploy any new ones.
Ukrainian intelligence is monitoring the situation in Belarus to be able to respond to potential threats, while border guards keep building fortifications along the border and in the adjacent areas, Demchenko stressed.
On February 22, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin told Russia’s Rossiya-24 TV channel that Ukraine had “a strike group” of up to 114,000 troops at the shared border with Belarus.
