Łukašenka accuses “collective West” of gearing up for third world war

February 20, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has warned generals in Minsk that the “collective West” is preparing for the third world war, the unofficial Telegram channel of his press office reported.
His statement comes as NATO strengthens its eastern flank in response to Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022. Minsk backed the invasion and allowed Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus.
Łukašenka accused Washington and its allies of expanding NATO, noting that “the situation is more than favorable for them.” Nearly all European leaders have become “US subjects,” he is quoted as saying.
“The forecast is grim. The appetite and activity of the collective West will only increase,” he said.
He added that the alliance has deployed about 32,000 troops, more than 1,000 armored vehicles, about 160 artillery systems and 235 aircraft close to Belarus and Russia.
