December 13, Pozirk. One dictatorship is replaced by another if political forces are not ready for democratic change, Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has said, while presenting the outline of a plan for Belarus’ transition to democracy.

“The strategy of transition to a new Belarus is a vision of how to turn our country into an independent, democratic and pro-European,” she noted.
Developed jointly by her camp, civil society organizations and think tanks, the strategy contains the opposition’s vision of the necessary changes. It is available for public discussion.
It focuses on restoring constitutional order, holding democratic elections, ensuring effective public administration, securing the rule of law, providing economic stability and creating favorable conditions for civil society and political pluralism.
