Russia rail bombing suspect a former Naftan worker

December 9, Pozirk. The Belarusian national detained on suspicion of terrorist attacks on the Baikal–Amur Mainline has been arrested until January 30, the Russian news agency TASS reported after a session of the Tsentralny District Court in Omsk.
It named him as Siarhiej Jeramiejeŭ and published his photo in the courtroom. He is accused of bombing two trains with oil products. Jeramiejeŭ will be held at Omsk’s pre-trial detention center.
According to the news agency, Jeramiejeŭ said he wanted to paralyze rail traffic. “I said in my testimony that ammunition was being transported via the BAM … My main goal was to disrupt traffic.”
Jeramiejeŭ was an instrument technician at the Naftan company in Navapołack, Viciebsk region, a source told Pozirk. In 2020, he joined a general strike.
