Kalinoŭski regiment’s wounded fighters continue to recover, no casualties last week
January 16, BPN. The Belarusian Kastuś Kalinoŭski volunteer regiment fighting Russia in Ukraine did not record any casualties last week, spokeswoman Kryścina Stankievič (call sign Čabor), told journalists.
Its wounded fighters “continue treatment and rehabilitation,” she added.
Last week, Belarusian volunteers conducted joint assault operations and reconnaissance in one of the most problematic areas in eastern Ukraine, she said.
On January 9, 11 Belarusian volunteers were reportedly wounded during a heavy battle with Russian forces near Bakhmut.
Six fighters wounded on December 31 are treated at the Kalinoŭski regiment’s own medical unit. Three other soldiers with gunshot wounds were hospitalized, including Małady Front leader Dzianis Urbanovič.
Belarusian volunteers formed the Kalinoŭski regiment in Ukraine in March 2022, initially as a battalion. Its stated mission is to liberate Belarus by defending Ukraine.
Belarusian investigators opened a criminal case against its members.
In November 2022, Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakoŭ said that authorities identified almost 160 Belarusians fighting in Ukraine.
