Weather service extends heat and thunderstorm alerts through July 20

July 17, Pozirk. The Biełhidramiet weather service has issued a warning about heat and thunderstorms with gusty winds over the next four days.
Temperatures may reach a maximum of 31 degrees Celsius today. Thunderstorms are expected to arrive in western Belarus by tomorrow, with some areas likely to experience heavy downpours and squally winds with gusts of 15–20 m/s.
Biełhidramiet issued an orange weather alert for the Brest and Hrodna regions on July 18 over high temperatures.
On July 19 and 20, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected across most of the country. Winds will be gusty and variable in direction, with strong gusts during thunderstorms in the afternoon, it noted.
A total of 147 temperature records were broken across Belarus between June 27 and July 2, including 99 daily records, 26 monthly records and 15 all-time highs, according to Pozirk‘s analysis of Biełhidramiet’s data.
