Łukašenka begins tour of East and Southeast Asia
June 28, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has embarked on a tour of East and Southeast Asia following two days of informal talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He is expected to visit three countries, his press office said, without specifying the destinations.
According to the statement, the region is among Belarus’ foreign policy priorities.
Dźmitryj Krutoj, head of Łukašenka’s administration, told news.by that the tour had been in preparation for months. He said the head of state intends to discuss presidential-level projects worth tens of millions of US dollars. He also urged the media not to sensationalize the visit. However, he declined to reveal which countries Łukašenka plans to visit.
Information about Łukašenka’s meeting with Putin has been scarce, with official reports largely limited to general statements.
Putin’s press office briefly reported that the “heads of state discussed the agenda of the Union State, trade and economic cooperation, the implementation of joint economic projects, as well as issues relating to regional security.”
