Kyiv: Russian attack balloon drifts into Ukraine from Belarus

May 3, Pozirk. An airborne object, identified as a balloon, violated the Ukrainian airspace from Belarusian territory on May 2, Ukrainian border guard spokesman Andriy Demchenko has told weukraine.tv.
The balloon was used as a relay station to amplify signals for airborne weapons deployed by Russia in strikes against Ukraine, he added, warning that the Belarusian direction continues to pose a threat to Ukraine, as Minsk maintains its support for Moscow’s war.
Even though Russia does not have significant forces in Belarus at the moment, the officials in Minsk keep “to play along with Russia,” Demchenko said.
The official did not rule out further provocations from Belarus. “I can’t disclose everything at this stage, but we should expect, or at least be prepared for, attempts to destabilize the situation along the border,” he said.
Yesterday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv recorded some unusual activities by Belarus along sections of the shared border.
In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and supplying arms to Moscow.
