March 3, Pozirk. The memorial ceremony marking the 84th anniversary of the Minsk ghetto massacre has been postponed “for security reasons,” the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Organizations and Communities reported.
The event was traditionally held at the Jama (the Ditch) memorial in central Minsk, marking the site where more than 5,000 people from the city’s Jewish ghetto were killed by Nazis on March 2, 1942.
The authorities did not provide a reason for the postponement, but the decision comes amid recent criticism by Belarusian officials of the US-Israel military operation against Iran.
