Cichanoŭskaja says she will stay in politics until fair elections are held in Belarus

February 7, Pozirk. Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja, Belarus’ exiled opposition leader, has said she will remain in politics for as long as it takes to secure a free and fair presidential election, but does not plan to run herself.

Cichanoŭskaja, who maintains that Alaksandar Łukašenka stole her victory in the 2020 presidential election, made the remarks during a question-and-answer session in Warsaw on February 7.

“As long as Belarusians listen to me, and as long as our foreign partners listen to me, trust me, and work with me, I will stay where I am,” she said.

However, she added that she would not rule out running in an election for the leadership of the pro-democracy opposition.
