January 16, Pozirk. The Belarusian Armed Forces have begun a large-scale surprise drill, said the defense ministry.

The exercise, ordered by Alaksandar Łukašenka, is of complex nature and includes several phases, said Alaksandar Valfovič, state secretary of the Security Council.

The training draws on experience of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, he said, noting that Łukašenka will personally inspect troops.

The drill began with a technical support unit that stores various armored equipment. Officials will inspect guard details, while troops will be trained to intercept unmanned aerial vehicles.

The exercise comes after a surprise drill of interior troops and special operation forces earlier this month and three months after a similar event in the armed forces.
