Łukašenka starts two-day visit to Algeria

December 2, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka is on his first official visit to Algeria from December 2 to 3, his press office reports.
The politician will meet Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to discuss closer economic ties, including supplies of Belarusian equipment and ties in agriculture and industry sectors, it noted.
Łukašenka left Belarus on November 26 for Kyrgyzstan, to attend the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organization’s (CSTO) summit. From there, he flew to Myanmar before starting a four-day visit to Oman.
Belarus and Algeria established diplomatic relations in 1995.
In 2021, trade between the two countries amounted to $1.01 million, dominated by Belarusian exports of potash fertilizers, stationery and textiles, according to the Belarusian embassy to Egypt responsible for relations with Algeria. Data for the following years is not publicly available.
