October 29, Pozirk. Lithuania’s government has decided to keep all checkpoints along its border with Belarus closed for a month until November 30, the cabinet announced Wednesday. The government said it may extend the closure.
The move comes as Lithuanian officials mull a response to incursions by weather balloons carrying smuggled cigarettes from Belarus. The incursions mask hybrid attacks to destabilize Lithuania, its President Gitanas Nausėda told journalists yesterday.
