August 7, Pozirk. Belarusian border guards in late July arrested a 46-year old Austrian man at the Brest checkpoint for possessing 0.56 grams of marijuana, said the State Border Committee.
The weed was detected by a dog. The man may face a prison sentence of up to seven years is found guilty of possession of an illicit drug.
Convictions of drug-related crimes rose in Belarus by 2.9 percent year on year in the first six months of 2025, according to the country’s Supreme Court.
