Łukašenka: Belarusian goods priced out of Russian market
July 31, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka on July 31 expressed concern that Belarusian goods have been priced out of the Russian market by products from third countries, calling for additional protection measures.
From January to May, Belarus’ exports of vehicles, tractors and harvesters to Russia decreased by $320 million year on year, he told diplomats in Minsk.
Russia-bound exports rose by $10 billion in 2022-2024 after Belarus redirected its sales amid Western sanctions imposed for Minsk’s support for Russia’s war on Ukraine.
The Belarusian leader noted that a common Belarusian-Russian industrial policy existed “on paper only,” noting that Belarusian companies had no access to competition for Russian equipment orders and the governments did not coordinate properly to avoid creating businesses that manufacture the same goods.
Last month, Mikałaj Snapkoŭ, Belarus’ first deputy prime minister, called for urgent measures to protect the Russian automobile market from the expansion of Chinese manufacturers.
