Electronic warfare units conducting drills across Belarus’ three regions until June 27

July 25, Pozirk. The Belarusian Armed Forces’ 8th Radar Brigade has started a three-day exercise in jamming drones, detecting sabotage and reconnaissance groups as well as camouflaging and handling radar equipment, the defense ministry’s press office reported.
Radar units are practicing detection of mock enemy’s targets and training coordinated action in transferring data to the air defense troops, it noted.
The drill is conducted in more than a dozen districts across three Belarusian regions, said Alaksandar Varabjoŭ, in charge the Air/Air Defense Forces’ Radar Troops.
Electronic warfare units are practicing the deployment of the command and control systems using recent experiences of the armed conflict between Iran and Israel, including learning new combat techniques to survive attacks by high-precision weapons and unmanned aircraft, he noted.
The training is designed to prepare units for the mounting, dismounting and deployment in the shortest possible time, Vierabjoŭ added.
Belarus frequently conducts drills amid tensions with the West and Russia’s war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports the Kremlin.
Earlier this month, Lithuania’s foreign ministry handed a note of protest to the Belarusian chargé d’affaires yesterday in connection with a drone incursion on July 10, describing it as an illegal violation of airspace.
The Gerbera foam-built UAV designed in Russia to imitate Iranian-made Shahed drones might have been used by Belarusian troops for training, Lithuanian officials said.
