Belarus’ thunderstorm leaves one dead, several injured

July 10, Pozirk. A 32-year-old woman was killed by a fallen tree during a thunderstorm this morning while camping outside in Mahiloŭ, the emergencies ministry reported.
Four people, including a teenager, sustained injuries in similar incidents and were hospitalized, it added.
Electricians have been reportedly working through the night to restore the power supply to more than 60 localities affected by bad weather.
Yesterday, a thunderstorm with wind gusts of up to 23 m/s also hit the Viciebsk region, damaging 29 buildings in the Haradok district.
The Bielhidramiet weather service issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy showers and strong winds across most of Belarus this afternoon. Hot weather with temperatures of up to 34 degrees Celsius is expected in eastern Belarus.
