(Investigative Committee)

July 1, Pozirk. Belarus’ Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against Mikałaj Kacałapaŭ, a co-founder and former top manager of the Wargaming game development company, the agency’s press office reported.

Kacałapaŭ, who is based abroad, is accused of extremism and terrorism financing in connection with alleged donations to opposition and Ukraine-support initiatives.

Earlier this month, Moscow’s Tagansky District Court has banned the operations of OOO Lesta, the Russian spin-off of Wargaming, the developer of the World of Tanks and World of Warships and other popular computer games, and ordered the seizure of its assets.

Earlier, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office accused Lesta, its owner Malik Khatazhaev and Belarusian businessman Viktar Kisły, another co-founder of Wargaming, of supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
